BORNO ON THE MOVE AGAIN:NEW TASHAN BAMA PARK LEADS THE WAY

The New Tashan Bama Park in Maiduguri is always full of life, especially on busy market and travel days, as people gather to board vehicles heading to various local government areas like Bama, Banki, Gwoza, Pulka, and Konduga.

From early in the morning, the park comes alive. Drivers load their vehicles with both passengers and all kinds of goods — sacks of grains, second-hand clothes, food items, and other supplies meant for traders and families in these towns. Some passengers even climb onto the top of loaded vehicles just to secure a spot.

The atmosphere is lively and crowded. People can be seen bargaining over transport fares, arranging goods, and hurrying to catch their rides. Tricycles (Keke NAPEP) constantly move in and out, helping commuters and traders transport their loads to and from the park.

According to one of the drivers, Baba Musa, business has been booming. “Now that the roads are safer, people travel more. Every day we go to Bama, Gwoza, Pulka, Banki, and Konduga with full loads,” he said while strapping down items on his vehicle.

For many traders like Hauwa, the park is their daily source of income. “I bring my goods here every day. Some go to Bama, some to Gwoza. This park is where we survive,” she shared.

The New Tashan Bama Park has grown into a vital economic hub, linking Maiduguri to several towns in Borno State and helping both transporters and traders keep their businesses running.
