TY DANJUMA URGES NIGERIA TO DEFEND THEMSELVES, SAYS GOVERNMENT CAN'T HANDLE INSECURITY ALONE 

Former Defence Minister, General Theophilus Danjuma (rtd), has called on Nigerians to take charge of their own safety, saying the government cannot tackle insecurity alone.

Danjuma made the statement during a public event in Takum, Taraba State, where he expressed concern over continued killings and kidnappings.

“We have a serious security problem. Kidnapping is on the rise and will not stop unless we all rise up and defend ourselves,” he said.

He reminded the public of a similar warning he gave years ago in Wukari, saying it still applies today.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Defence, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, visited Plateau communities affected by recent attacks. He assured residents that the federal government is working to restore peace.

Badaru, who was accompanied by top defence officials, extended condolences to victims and promised that the attackers would be brought to justice.

“We’re working with the state government to prevent future attacks,” he added, urging local leaders to assist with useful intelligence.

The minister also emphasized President Tinubu’s concern over the crisis and said all efforts would be made to stop the violence.
